| The current
owner of this beautiful restoration purchased the vehicle in early Spring
of 1999 and immediately began restoration. The car was a generally
nice straight and solid candidate for a complete going through.
Amongst the many items addressed in the restoration were the following:
Front disk brakes have been
added for safety including new front calipers and rotors, front bearings
and seals. A dual master cylinder delivers the stopping power.
The rear drum brakes have been completely rebuilt. The original 289
has been replaced with a completely rebuilt 302 from a 71 Torino donor.
A mild cam and electronic ignition were added in the build-up. The
C-4 transmission has been properly and completely rebuilt (this happens
to be the owner’s profession). The engine and transmission currently
have about 3,000 miles on them since their rebuild. The car features dual
aluminized exhaust. Front end is completely rebuilt including ball
joints, upper and lower control arm bushings. The 15”x 7” Torque
Thrusts are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle rubber. Shocks are by Monroe.
The power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 3.33 rear end ratio
featuring new bearings and seals. Power steering makes this an easy car
to handle and was donated along with a complete serpentine pulley and belt
system from an ’88 5.0 Mustang.
This gorgeous convertible also features a new aftermarket air conditioning
system. Cooling is courtesy of electric dual fans combined with cross-flow
aluminum radiator. In addition the alternator has been upgraded
from a 42 amp to 110 amp unit .The convertible top has been replaced,
is power driven and works perfectly. All chrome has been re-chromed,
all stainless cleaned and polished then clear coated. The exterior
finish was taken down to bare metal which was meticulously massaged prior
to re-paint. The quality of workmanship shows in the nice straight
lines of this car and the beautiful final appearance. The interior
is completely redone including carpet, door panels and weather stripping.
Again, the owner built this car to enjoy and took time to enhance safety
by including 3 point restraint belts front and rear.
This car has been very tastefully restored to show off its vintage good
looks while building in safety and comfort upgrades that make it a pleasure
to drive. At the same time it has a nice aggressive sound while not
being too loud. This car is an absolute head-turner that begs to
be driven to cruises and shows. The current owner has asked us to represent
the car on his behalf. We have included a large number of photographs
with this write-up but feel free to contact us with specific questions.
The car can be available for viewing by prior appointment.
This car will be sold for
$25,500 as is, where is.
Trailered
delivery can be provided in many instances, inquire for further information.
