This is what I started with.  The first lesson to be learned is that looks can be deceiving!
Looks OK here, but the right rear quarter was junk, ditto for the left.
The car had at least one good thing going for it: It was a Fastback!
Note the poor fit of the deck lid.  Evidence that the car had received serious damage at some point.  The deck lid was junked as well.  Same for the taillight paned and the rear valance.

Red was it's 4th color.  Originally vintage burgundy, then two different shades of yellow, followed by candy apple red.  I believe the paint was the only thing holding the car together!
I removed the interior and dash first.  You can see from the seats that this was the 67 Deluxe interior.
Looking backwards, a sharp eye will discern the crease below the passenger side rear shock recess hole.  Further evidence of serious collision damage in the car's checkered past.
I begin stripping body parts.  Most go straight in the trash.
Note the empty drink.  That and plenty of WD 40 were b both necessities to relieve the stress of getting this junker apart!
Top
The hood and hinges were not even close to being salvageable.  Note the 2 x 4 hood prop.
The doors looked good, but upon further investigation and stripping, they would be found to have more cancer than I was willing to accept.  They were later sold in favor of nicer replacements.
Hallelujah!    Right front fenders is salvageable.
Wow!  Another good fender.
Now we can start to get a closer look at what we're really dealing with.
Removal of the rear fender extensions, bumper and lights reveal more cancer.
