We knew the quarters were bad so those were removed first.  Now we can really start seeing the extent of the rust damage.
Rear frame rails, inner wheel wells and trunk floor were all repaired or replaced using the original gas tank for alignment purposes.

It was during this period that we realized how badly the car had been hit at some point.  We sent the car to be pulled and squared so we knew we were working from a good base before we started welding.  We had it checked again before final paint - just to be sure.
Now we went to work replacing the quarters.  This was not easy.  We had to use coupe quarters since fastback quarters were not available.  Tricky too, because so much of the original quarter profile lines were lost.
Note the fiberglass Shelby deck lid was used for aligning the new quarters.
Now that the quarters were in, we could install the taillight panel and shoot everything with primer.

Now we were in the position to be able to mount the car on the rotisserie.  These photographs show how it is mounted.  A rotisserie is an invaluable device for efficiently and thoroughly working on a restoration project.  It saves a lot of time laying on your back.
Tim shows the versatility of using a rotisserie -  note the Fred Flintstone floors (or lack there of).
Note the difference now the floorboards have been replaced and sealed.  While we were doing that we replaced portions of the front frame rails and added a passenger side torque box.  The early 67's did not have the passenger side torque box and the new for '67 390 C.I.  addition placed more "twist" on the body due to added torque.  The additional box helps avert that.
