Now we had the car back, the first order of the day was to get it on all fours.  Tim began installing the Global West Advanced Suspension which had been specially ordered for the front and rear.  This would give us a modified setup with the correct geometry for advanced handling situations.  We also used 4 KYB gas shocks, 620 coil springs and a front sway bar.  At the rear we have not sway bar.  Global West advised the rear sway bar in combination with this setup would make the car too tight.  Tying the front and rear together is a set of subframe connectors welded into position.  Note the shackles.  Stainless Steel Discs (with a power booster were installed at all four corners.  Fluid to be supplied through stainless brake lines.  The final touch was the vintage 45 16" x 8" wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich Competition T/A Radials.
As Tim was finishing up the suspension, I was cutting the tail panel in preparation for the 67 Cougar tail light installation. (Just as Carroll Shelby had used on his 67 Shelby's)  Since this tail panel had been installed during the early phases of the restoration, cutting it up didn't come easy.  But to ge the look I wanted, it had to be done.  So I grit my teeth, checked my markings multiple times and cut carefully.  I probably ended up with 24 hours of labor in the total installation, but was very pleased with the final product.
We went to work on our fresh new interior.  Tim and Jay began by finishing the dash and doors in the correct black, then installing the headliner.  I was working on the roll bar and functional rear brake vents.

Door hardware and windows were installed.  All had been freshly chromed or polished so everything was like brand new.  For more details see the "Behind the Scenes" section.
(future installment)
The car was being completely wired.  A '67 harness was replacing the original since we would be running the option 8 grand tach with 140 speedo.  Most of the wiring harnesses were new.  If not they were thoroughly cleaned and inspected.  Simultaneously we were wiring for a Custom Autosound System that included multiple speakers and a 6 CD Changer.
The newly restored fold down seat was installed.  We were pleased with the look since this started life as a compilation of rusty parts from a number of fold downs.  See "Behind the Scenes" for more details.  Attention to detail finally was beginning to pay off.  Now it was time for seats.

Here's Tim taking care of the seat cover installation for the fold down.  For neck support I chose to use 69 buckets up front which Tim re-bunned and re-upholstered.  Also Simpson Y-Harnesses were added for extra saftey.
